So, what are the 2026 regulations?

Great question....we don't know yet. We find out in February. Read below for 2025 regulations

Halibut Fishing Regulations for 2025
- Your limit is 2 halibut per person per day, no annual limit, one of any size and the other 27” or smaller.
- Lower Cook Inlet and Kachemak Bay produces halibut of all sizes.
- Extremely rare that anyone fishing does not get their limit of 2 halibut.
- Typical fish run in the 15-40 lb range but we all have the photos to prove what can really be ready to bite your hook at any given time…so be prepared!

Salmon Fishing Regulations for 2025
- 1 king salmon per day
- Season limit of 5 Kings
- 6 other salmon per day, 3 of which may be a silver salmon, no season limit.

Rockfish - 1 Non-Pelagic and 2 Pelagic (No Yellow-Eye until July 1st, 2025) per person, per day

Ling Cod - 35" Minimum, Limit of 1 per person, per day

I caught fish, now what?

Take your fish home. We will go as far as filleting your fish for you and then we will pass off those fillets to you, should you decide that you would like to take on the responsibility of processing on your own OR if you have a Lodge or friend who is willing to do that for you.

Homer Fish Processing - typically HFP will send representatives to the harbor to meet you and from there gather your information, and your fish.

Coal Point Seafood Company - Coal Point's processing facility is located across from the harbor and easy to access.

** We absolutely DO NOT recommend trying to take fillets on ice with you onto an airplane.

What is your cancellation Policy?

• Short notice cancellations (14 days or less) are subject to a 50% deposit. If we can resell cancelled spaces, then we do not retain the deposit.
• In the unlikely event of a last-minute cancellation of 24 hours or less OR a no-show… you will be charged 100% of the charter rate.

***We are a small business with limited seating on our vessels. By holding a seat you are also guaranteeing that the boat will make its minimum for other passengers. Last minute cancellations run the risk of other anglers missing out on their trips, our captains, crew, and business are liable to take a financial loss as well. We do our very best to NOT keep any funds that may go unused and thus we have a fairly flexible cancellation policy. We have phenomenal office staff and we do everything we can to resell cancelled seats. IF YOU NEED TO CANCEL please call us and confirm over the phone with us that you are cancelling. We don't always see voicemails or emails right away and every minute counts.***

Travel Insurance is highly recommended when traveling/booking excursions in Alaska.

WE HAVE BOAT MINIMUMS AND RESERVE THE RIGHT TO PLACE YOU ON A DIFFERENT BOAT SHOULD OUR MINIMUMS NOT BE MET.

Weather Policy
There is always the rare occasion that weather can interrupt our fishing.  If a charter is cancelled before departure due to weather, there is a 100% refund. If we leave the dock but find we were unable to fish due to weather, there is a nominal fee of $30/person which helps cover crew and fuel expenses. The Captain will use his/her discretion when fishing conditions change during the day. If you are booked for a combo trip of some type and are unable to fish the different species due to weather the trip will likely revert down the rate of a single species rate.

Other Policies of Interest
If we can fish our combo trip but are unsuccessful at catching all the varieties this does not warrant a reduction to a single species rate.

We will do everything we can to fill your request for boat, captain or requested dates, but reserve the right to place you on a different boat due to unforeseen circumstances such as a mechanical issue.

***We do NOT guarantee limits on any species as this is a fishing trip...not a catching trip.***

Just a bunch of other questions we get...

Q: What kind of shoes do you recommend?
A: Non-slip waterproof shoes!

Q: Do you provide lunch?
A: No we do not provide lunch, we are happy to give recommendations though!

Q: Am I guaranteed a fish/my limit of fish?
A: No, it's mother nature y'all. We have a fairly healthy halibut fishing industry, however we are imposed with different federal restrictions every year.

Q: Why don't you fish on certain days? Do the fish need a rest?
A: Ya, kinda. We are regulated by the IPHC (International Pacific Halibut Commission) which determines how much halibut can be harvested along the entire pacific coast, from Alaska to California. This is the entity that determines what/how many days different charters in different areas have to give the halibut a break.

Q: So, how many of you guys are there? Charter businesses I mean?
A: Honestly, no idea. It is a limited entry fishery as there are only so many permits available in our sector.

Q: Are you married?

A: Please don't ask this question
